Frequently Asked Questions

  • You can learn more about any of the innovations by clicking on the coloured dot on the map. A pop-up with a scroll bar on the right-hand side will appear with the innovation’s basic information.

  • This bar allows you to filter the innovations on the map according to primary and secondary sectors, SDGs and location. You can also apply the development data layers from this bar. The sector, SDGs and location filters allow multiple simultaneous selections from the drop-down menu, while the development data indicators only allow one.

  • The bar shows dynamic analytics on the innovations. These numbers are based on the area of the map you are viewing. You can also use them to filter the innovations by type, stage and primary sector.

  • The interactive analytics on the right are dynamic. So, while zooming in and out of the map, the analytics automatically show you the number of innovations that are located in the area you are viewing.

  • The analytics display the top five results (at most) on the area of the map that is viewed. Let’s take the sector filter for example. What you see are the top five sectors of the innovations you see in front of you. If you click on the “Search 2 elements” button, the full list of sectors will appear.

  • If you are using the filter bar on the top, you will see the innovations that match the chosen sector as their primary or secondary activity, whereas the analytics on the right will only show you the primary sector.

  • If using the filter bar, simply uncheck the box(es) that you selected. If using the analytics, re-click on the selected category or press “clear”.

  • Yes! In addition to being able to select more than one option for a single filter at the same time, you can also apply different filters at the same time from both the filter bar and the interactive analytics. For example, you can filter by location and SDGs to see the innovations working on access to quality education in Cairo. Even more, you can view which of these innovations are, for example, for-profit enterprises by selecting this type from the analytics bar.

  • Yes! Once you select one of the options from the drop down menu a legend box will appear in the corner explaining how the development index is measured on the map and its color code. You can also then click on the different governorates of the map for the precise value of the development indicator for the selected area.
