DATA COLLECTION for the ‘egypt innovation map’

To leverage all the map functions, keep it dynamic and ensure validity of data, we collect the following information about all innovations:

General Information: name of founder/ co-founder and name of enterprise

Enterprise Information: mission Statement or description, year founded, innovation/start-up type, innovation/start-up stage, HQ address, and activity Status (active/ inactive)

Information on Operational areas: sectors and sub-sectors (primary & secondary), field of social impact (if applicable), locations of operation, and SDGs (the top 3 that the innovation is tackling)

Contact Information: phone number, email, website and social links of the business + phone number and email of founder/ co-founder

DATA PRIVACY for the ‘egypt innovation map’

Public View: since it is a digital map, the HQ location of an enterprise/ innovation is publicly visible to everyone by default. General users have limited access to the map functions and data. The public can view the map on the LEEP for Collaborative Impact website and have access to apply different filters and use the search box. Only the following data fields about innovations are displayed in public view: name of enterprise or organisation; sector; sub-sector; SDGs; year founded; enterprise stage and type. General users can send a request to RISE Egypt to gain access to the export function in case a user wants to use the data for academic or market research. Users given access would only be able to export the data that is available for public view. Organisations and researchers that conduct major studies and research projects and would require access to export further data that is not available for public view can send a request to RISE Egypt. RISE Egypt reserves the right to grant them a community member access level (see below). An innovation may inform us if they wish to remain anonymous on the public view of the map. RISE Egypt reserves the right to hide any of the mentioned fields from public view at any time without prior notification. To display additional fields, further communications will be sent to notify innovations.

LEEP for Collaborative Impact Community Members: community members have full access to the map functions and limited access to the data. Community members have access to the export function (exporting data and results based on search and filters). They would not have access to organisational and personal contact information (contact person names, organisational and personal phone numbers and email addresses). LEEP for Collaborative Impact community members can request access to contact information for a specific innovation(s) in case they identify a potential opportunity to collaborate. Contact information will be shared only after getting consent from the innovation(s).

RISE Egypt and Partners: RISE Egypt & partners have full access to the map functions. In order to identify potential areas of collaboration and reach out to the innovations, RISE Egypt and partners have access to the organisational contact information (general landline/phone number, general info email...etc.) along with other data fields. However, partners would not have access to personal contact information. RISE Egypt and partners reserve the right to generate and publish metadata about the innovation ecosystem from the map.

Sensitive Personal Contact Information: This information is collected to ensure the validity of entities that will be mapped and to be able to keep the map up to date. Only RISE Egypt and the partner that gave the referral to the innovation have access to this information. In case the original source of information is a partner organisation, this organisation will be contacted first for an update. Sensitive contact information are names, personal phone numbers and emails of founders/ contact persons.
